Children and Families

We are multi-generational and multi-cultural parish.

CHILDREN are not just the future of the Church; they are also our precious gifts in our midst now. We bring them into the life of Christ and His Church through baptism and do our best to provide them with a personal relationship with Christ and with the community of faith. We lead them closer to Christ and His Church through the sacraments and parish life. You will find many mentions of programs for children throughout our website.

Our ministry to children and youth is categorized into Kindergarten through Fifth Grade, Middle School and High School.

Children's Liturgy of the Word on Sunday. Through most of the year, we provide special opportunities for the little children to hear God's Word during Sunday Mass. At the 11:00 Sunday Mass, our children from Kindergarten through Second Grade come forward to gather near the altar right before the Liturgy of the Word starts. Then one of the children carries the Children's Lectionary book to lead the procession to the Parish Hall for a sharing of the same readings, but at a children's level.  They return to the church during the Offertory of the Mass.  We ask that children who are in in third grade and older remain in church because they are preparing for the Sacraments of Confirmation and their first Holy Communion.  Our bishop of the Diocese of Phoenix has specified that children are to be prepared to receive these two sacraments in the third grade. We know that this is a change for many people moving into the Phoenix area from other parts of the country, but this is the restored order of the Sacraments of Initiation following the pattern and practice of the early church at the beginning. Each bishop has the right to establish sacramental policies which best serve the needs of people he governs within his diocese. Get more information from the Diocese of Phoenix Sacramental Policies. You will also find answers there about Home Schooling.

Teens.  You will find information about programs for teens not only on our main parish website, here, but also on their special website link given on those pages. Please select the "FORMATION" tab from the Menu Bar bar at the top of your screen.

Young Adults.  Our young adults are encourged to share as core team members in our ministry to children and teens, or in the parish choir or in the many other ways to get involved in parish life. Some of our young adults also participate in the young adults events around the diocese or in the Catholic Newman Centers at the large campuses around Arizona such as ASU, NAU and Grand Canyon University. There are several Catholic universities located in our region mostly around the east valley (Tempe).

Our Pastoral Team is always here to serve you. Please consult them if you have any questions about the above. The clergy and staff are here to serve you in the mission of the Christ to His Church.
