Forming Catholic Disciples K-5th

Religious Education is much more than passing on facts about the Catholic Church ~ it is about formation in faith and action as disciples.
The life of every Catholic, from childhood to adulthood, is about being formed in the image of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior as He has been revealed through His Church and the sacraments. This formation prepares us to do what Jesus told his diciples to do: "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, ... teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you." (Matthew 28:19-20) This is the Great Commission. We are partners with Christ.

The process of formation is always new and never ends! One hour and fifteen minutes each week in a Religious Education class is not enough to form us in our Catholic Faith. Parents are the first formators in the Cathoic faith, and the parish builds upon what they do in the home. If the faith we teach in the church and in formation sessions is not practiced in the home, then what we do is mostly ineffective. We are a team with a magnificent responsibility to live our faith fully every day.

Attending Sunday liturgies, praying daily, reading Scripture, and living the Ten Commandments is essential. The primary instruction of the Catholic family takes place at the Sunday liturgy. Living in a world with conflicting values, we need the Eucharist to help us stand firmly with one another in our faith and become the followers of Christ that we are called to by our baptism.

Parents, you are the primary educators of your children and that is why we include the faith formation of our parents. The family is the first forum in which the mission of evangelization takes place.  We ask each family to become a registered parishioner and become fully active in the life of the parish.

In order to register your children for "Disciples" faith formation at St. Clare of Assisi, your family must be registered parishioners. If you are not currently a registered parishioner, we invite you to attend Come and See Sunday which is the 2nd Sunday of each month.

Please Note: This schedule is for classroom-scheduled classes on Monday evenings. We will have Family Centered Events, Retreats, Missions and Holy Days that will be on other days of the week for your family to attend during the school year. Our programs are centered on Christ and on helping your family become fully active participants in the life of the parish.

Welcome to our formation program and may our Lord bless and enrich each family to become true disciples within the community of St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church.
