Sacramental Preparation for Baptized Catholics

Preparation for Reconciliation, Confirmation, Communion

First Reconciliation

In the Diocese of Phoenix, second graders are prepared to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time. Also known as Confession or Penance, Reconciliation is the sacrament we participate in to confess our sins to God, receive a penance from the priest, and reconcile with the faith community.

Anyone in second through fifth grades who wishes to receive the Sacrament for the first time must participate in our Religious Education program called Disciples. Register for Disciples by clicking here. In addition, you must watch a series of four videos and submit a completed worksheet by the end of December, 2020.

For adolescents and adults desiring to receive Reconciliation for the first time, you must watch the videos and submit the completed worksheet.

Confirmation & First Communion

The Diocese of Phoenix has restored the order of these sacraments of initiation to reflect the early Church's custom of celebrating them together. Third grade is the norm for preparing to receive Confirmation and First Communion.

Through our Disciples program, our third graders -- and those fourth & fifth graders who have not received these sacraments -- participate in immediate preparation by watching videos available on our YouTube channel:  In addition to the videos, worksheets must be completed and submitted by the end of March, 2021. The worksheets and a complete list of requirements are found to the right. Register for Disciples by clicking here.

For adolescents and adults desiring to receive Confirmation and/or First Communion, you must watch the videos and submit the completed worksheets.
